One problem faced by vietnamese refugees to the united states was downward social mobility, it was very hard for them to insert their communities, not only because of their language, but also because of their lack of possesions, that affected them psychologically, they had to work as maintenance, and others couldn´t even work, it got really hard to climb the social ladder, despite the fact that it was a very large colony, more than one million seven hundred thousand Vietnamese came to the United States, the largest population outside  Vietnam.
