A wholesaler of kitchen appliances offers a discount of 12% on the first $10000 worth of merchandise and 17% on additional merchandise. What would be the final cost of $18000 worth of appliances? Show your work.

12/100x10000 = 1200

17/100x8000= 1360

1360+1200 = 2560

18000 - 2560 = $15,440 (final cost)
