The NET force on the ball is the combination of ALL the individual forces on it. So there's only one NET force.
If the net force on the ball is in exactly the same direction that the ball is already moving, then it'll keep moving in that direction, and pick up speed. If the net force is in any other direction, then the ball will change it's direction, and it may gain or lose speed.
