1) Electrons are transferred in the formation of ______________ bonds.
A) ionic
B) covalent
C) metallic
D) all chemical

2) Which pair below describes isotopes of the same element?

A) an atom with 6 protons and 8 neutrons - an atom with 8 protons and 6 neutrons
B) an atom with 6 protons and 6 neutrons - an atom with 6 protons and 7 neutrons
C) an atom with 8 protons and 8 neutrons - an atom with 7 protons and 8 neutrons
D) an atom with 7 protons and 6 neutrons - an atom with 6 protons and 6 neutrons

3) Describe the composition of the nucleus of an atom.
A) It is composed of protons.
B) It is composed of protons and neutrons.
C) It is composed of protons and electrons.
D) It is composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons.

4) reactant → product
If there are 4 grams of reactant, how many grams of product are produced by the chemical reaction?
A) 0 grams
B) 2 grams
C) 4 grams
D) 8 grams

5) 2Na + Cl2 → 2NaCl

Sodium and Chlorine combine to form table salt. Given the chemical reaction, how many grams of 2Na + Cl2 would be required to produce 4 grams of table salt?

A) 2 grams
B) 3 grams
C) 4 grams
D) 8 grams

Respuesta :

1.Type of bonding in which electrons are completely transferred is called ionic bond.
2. Isotopes have same atomic number but different atomic mass number.
Atomic number = number of protons + number of neutrons
Therefore, A is correct.
3. Nucleus is composed of neutrons and protons.
4. Chemical reactions follows the law of conservation of mass. Therefore mass of reactant = mass of product = 4 grams.
5. Again, mass of table salt formed should be equal to mass of (Na+Cl₂) = 4 grams.

The answer to #5 is 4 grams.
