Psilocybin Psilocybin
(4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine) is a substance that occurs naturally in over 200 species of mushrooms that are native tropical and subtropical regions of Mexico, South America, and North America. Psilocybin is metabolized into psilocin which is actually the active chemical that produces the effects. Psilocybin is currently listed as a Schedule I substance which means that there's a high potential for abuse and that there's no currently accepted medical uses for it.
