A martyr is someone that died for their beliefs. In this case, it probably isn't literal, but rather a word the author uses to show how much all of her partners have suffered. In other words, not an acual death, but an emotional one.

The answer would not be A because it is not actively trying to convey what is required for love. Next, the answer could not be B because in these lines the author is not giving any description of how she feels, but rather states the pain she caused to others. Then, the answer C would not be correct because the text does not talk about relationships in general, but rather the speaker's past romantic relationships.  Thus, the answer being D and making the most since she does mention how she caused suffering to her past partners by describing them as martyrs.
