Creep is the slow, permanent movement of soil and other debris down a slope. The size of the slope does not matter as creep is a natural process not related to a particular size of slope.
Because of it slowness, creep is difficult to be spotted. Some tale tell signs of progressing creep are: bent trees, tilted fences and cracked walls.
Creep is mostly caused by gravity and by frost heaving, other processes involved are the wedging action of root growth and the wetting and drying of soil layers. Prolonged pressure or stress put on a slope can also cause a creep.
