the Lecompton Constitution give the voters of Kansas the option to vote for the constitution "with slavery" or "without slavery."
The  Lecompton Constitution  caused a major conflict within Kansas at that time because voters who supported both sides constantly made efforts to boycotts the vote from their  opposition.

The Lecompton Constitution furnished a referendum that permitted the citizens to welcome more slaves in their district. The voters of Kansas had the liberty to reject this, which actually happened on the 4th of January, 1858. Furthermore, the said constitution sheltered the rights of slaveholders by enclosing bondage in the state.
