Liver cells, bone cells, nerve cells, and muscle cells are called Stem cells or Somatic Cells. Sperm cells and egg cells are called reproductive cells or germ cell or gametes. Stem cells or Somatic cells undergoes mitosis to reproduce while gametes undergoes meiosis.
I believe the correct answer is Liver cells, bone cells, nerve cells, and muscle cells are called somatic cells. Sperm cells and egg cells are called gametes.
Explanation:
The human body is made up of 2 pairs of cells, i.e. gametes which are specifically sex cells that arise from the germ cell lineage and are only found in the reproductive organ and determine the sex of the baby and somatic cells that are found everywhere else in the body.
Further Explanation:
Gametes:
They are diploid meaning each of them has 46 chromosomes compared to the germ cells that usually are haploid with 23 chromosomes. These cells take part in reproduction where they have sex chromosomes that determine the sex of the baby. They are produced by the reproductive organ cells i.e. sperms are produced by the testes and ova are produced by the ovaries from the ovarian follicles during the ovulation cycle. They arise from germ cells during the process of embryogenesis. They reproduce through the process of meiosis where the germ cell splits in half to form the 2 gametes i.e. sperms for males and ova for females each with 23 chromosomes. Of the 23 chromosomes in each cell, 22 are autosomes and 1 is a sex chromosome that will determine the sex of the baby. In males it can be a Y chromosome or X chromosome while in females it only can be an X chromosome.
Somatic cells:
These are the most abundant of all cells and they arise from cells called stem cells. They are diploid with 46 chromosomes are reproduce via a process called mitosis to produce 2 pairs of cells in the cell cycle. These cells are responsible for mutations since mutations that occur in the parent stem cell will be carried on to the daughter cells that have been produced.
