Ultimately, the central cause of the Cold War between the United States and USSR, were what  made the Soviet Union collapse due to the decline of communist ideology, thinking and politics, and the failure of the Soviet Soviet economy. The collapse or decline of the Soviet Russia would have happened even without the Prime Minister Mikeal Gorbachev. In the early Cold War, communism and the Soviet Union had a good deal of soft power and were a tru threat to the United States. but as time went on, their country became impoverished and could not grow economicall, politically or socially.
