30 × 30 + 50 × 50 = 3400

square root of 3400 is 58.31 feet.

58.31 feet is the angle of elevation of the kite.
The 50 ft is the hypotenuse because it's the string between the boy and the kite. The 30 ft is the height of the kite from the ground straight up. So from the boy's point you have the opposite side and the hypotenuse so you will use inverse sine to find the angle of elevation
sin^-1 (3/5)= 36.87°
