This is a case of bronchial asthma. From the history, she is experiencing shortness of breath and nonproductive cough with nocturnal symptoms. She has past medical and family history of atopy which presents as seasonal allergies and eczema or dermatitis respectively. The patient denies smoking. Physical examination revealed normal vital signs but auscultation revealed high pitched whistling on expiration in all lobes, and this is called wheezing and this is characteristic of asthma. The management for this case is a immediate short acting beta agonist (salbutamol or albuterol) and a maintenance low dose corticosteroid (fluticasone) or a combination of long acting beta agonist and a corticosteroid (Seretide).
