1. What is the solution to the system of equations?

3x-6y=-12
x-2y=-8

(a) Use the substitution method to justify that the given system of equations has no solution.
(b) What do you know about the two lines in this system of equations?

Respuesta :

So yeah, we'll have to use the substitution method to justify that the system of equations has no solution. We'll be substituting 3 into the second equation:

3x - 6y = -12
3x - 6y = -24

I know that this system of equations leaves us with no solution because both the x and y crosses out, leaving us with 0 = 12.

Answer:

I know I am answering 3 years late but for the people who need help, this is the answer. I know because I go to k12. And FYI I am using the substitution method so you don't need to worry about that :)

A) 3x-6y=-12

x-2y=-8

3(2y – 8) - 6y = -12

 6y – 24 – 6y = -12

 -24 ≠ -12

There is no solution.

B) If we were to graph them, the two lines would not intersect; they would be parallel.

HOPE THIS HELPS :) PLZ LEAVE A THANKS AND A GOOD RATING. WOULD BE APPRECIATED !
