The answer is searching for novel prey. The melting of Arctic ice is reducing the ice sheet that polar bears use as a platform to hunt seals. They also stand an increased chance of getting stranded by pack ice due to the melting. Therefore polar bears are beginning to hunt snow geese and caribou instead.
