Darkness lined the alley to the mining field
Gloomy as his faith may be;
Had he been careful and wise indeed
He would not have fallen to this sea.
Life is a cycle; you may be up today, you know
Tomorrow you may be wallowing below.
Gloomy as his faith may be;
Had he been careful and wise indeed
He would not have fallen to this sea.
Life is a cycle; you may be up today, you know
Tomorrow you may be wallowing below.
Answer:
A six line poem based on the novel “Black Midas” by Jan Carew:
We are the victims here
To whom fate hasn’t been kind
We spend our days, toiling the ground as hard as we can endure
But the Earth is nothing but dust.
Why is life being unkind and people being unfair?
Even the birds and animals agree.
Carew’s “Black Midas” is a cautionary tale about greed and class conflict set in postcolonial Guyana. The above poem also gives an insight into the lives of the masses who are suffering from the curse of class struggle. The inequality among the various sections of people is the cause of their suffering that’s why they are all victims in the walk of life who do work hard but don’t get the equal in return.
