Linda Brown was 8 years old when he enrollment into an all white elementary school was blocked. Linda was entering third grade when she was refused admittance to this school. She became famous nationally when her father sued the school district.

This case that started as a local issue turned into a national case that affected the fate of thousands of schools all across the US. The case, Brown vs. Board of Education helped lead to the end of segregated schools and the doctrine of "separate but equal" that was established by the court case Plessy vs. Ferguson.
