In the body we split our circulatory system into two different circuits. The systemic circuit is responsible for circulating oxygenated blood and nutrients throughout your body using, arteries (blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart), and deoxygenated blood back to the heart via veins (blood vessels that transport blood back to the heart).
There is one other circuit involved, though, which is responsible for transporting deoxyenated blood via pulmonary arteries (remember arteries always transport away from the heart), to the lungs to be reoxygenated, before coming being brought back to the heart via pulmonary veins to be redistributed. This is known as the Pulmonary Circuit. It is an interesting subject as it is one of two exceptions wear veins transport oxygenated blood, while arteries transport deoxygenated blood, the other being the umbilical vasculature in newborns.
