in “the first seven years” by bernard malamud, how is the climax of the story also and epiphany for feld?

Respuesta :

Fleld's confrontation with Sobel makes him to realize that he wanted the wrong things for Miriam.

Feld’s epiphany shows him that is more important letting Miriam take decisions on her own, than his wishes for her. Even when what Feld wants is that his daughter has a better life that the one he had, she needs to make choices that will make her happy. This is also the climax for the story since this moment makes a break point in the history line, he is where the protagonist realizes that Miriam will not be happy with the path he wants for her and agree to let her marry Sobel.
