At a town hall meeting, 4/9 of the people in the attendance are male, and the ratio of the people over the age of 40 to the people 40 years or younger is 7:5 . if 7/20 of the females in the in the attendance are 40 years or younger, what fraction of the males in the attendance are over the age of 40?

Lets say there are 360 people there because it is divisible by 9, 12(7+5 from the ratio),  20. Then there are 160 males and 200 females. There are also 210 people over 40 and 130 40 or less. And of the females 70 are 40 or younger while 130 are older than 40. this means there are 210-130=80 males over the age of 40. Out of the 160 males there 80 are over forty. So 80/160 is 1/2.
