Printmaking is a process-oriented medium. Many of the artists who work in this medium enjoy the step-by-step character of the process, and the stark graphic quality of prints. Why would an artist who wants an unlimited number of prints not choose relief printmaking?

The process takes time, and they cannot produce multiple copies easily or efficiently, each time the print would come out different because the artist would have to make a different one each time.

Printmaking is a tedious process creating multiple copies requires a lot   of time, so it is not widely used by the artists.

It is the process of artwork's creation by printing on paper, but it is  also be done on woods, metal, fabrics and other places. Woodcut, engraving, Etching are some methods of printmaking.

The artist who wants the unlimited number of prints will not choose printmaking because it's a lengthy process and creating multiple copies requires time and the results are not that efficient, every time the print would be different because the artist has to make the art again.

Therefore, it can be said that as printmaking is a tedious process, it is not widely used by the artists.
