Probability is when you do find how likely it will be to do something. For example, if you get a question that says, ''John spins a spinner with numbers 1-5. What is the probability he will get a 4?'' The answer would be 1/5 because there a 5 numbers but only 1 of them is 4. Another example would be ''Lucy rolls a dice and flips a coin. What is the probability of getting a 3 and tails?'' The answer would be 1/4 because when she rolled a dice, the probability of getting a 3 would be 1/6, because there is 6 numbers on a dice and there is only one 3 on every dice, so that would be 1/6. When she flipped a coin, the chance of getting tails would be 1/2 because there is only 2 results on a single coin - heads and tails. Tails is only one of two of the results, so therefore it would be 1/2. Then you add the two fractions together, which makes 2/8. (You just do 1 plus 1 and then 2 plus 6, not complicated) and then you simplify it to 1/4!
There is also worded probability, impossible, unlikely, even chance, likely or certain. For example, ''If today is Wednesday then tomorrow will be Sunday,'' would be impossible since the day after Wednesday is Thursday. Another example would be, ''Helen rolled a dice and got an even number,''. The answer would be even chance because there are 3 odd numbers on a dice and 3 even. 3/6 would be the fraction, that can later be simplified to 1/2. Sorry for the long explanation!
