I live in florida. we've had some very close election results in recent years with democrats and Republicans fighting neck to neck to win our 29 electoral votes. In fact, that's why they call my state "battleground state". Is this in a favor of the electoral college or not?

It is also called Swing States.it means the voters in the states are either equally split between the Democrats and Republicans or the opinion of the public cannot be determined.

The battleground states are very important for an election as because winning from these states can lead to winning up of the election in total. This is the reason a presidential candidate make more efforts in these state i.e. money and time wise both in order to win this state's vote. It is in favor of electoral college.

Some of "battleground states" are Pennsylvania and Florida.
