You just have to expand the expressions.
For the first one, 72-(63-8) = 17 (brackets first, so 72-(55) which is 17)
and (72-63)-8 = 1, so they are not equivalent. The reason why they aren't equivalent is because the brackets are around different parts of the equation, so you are solving it differently and getting a different result.
