United to overthrow the reigning Porfirio Diaz and his regime. This triggered a prolonged and violent power struggle that shook the entire republic. This helped spark the Mexican Revolution. Hope this helps

Fought against the Profirio Diaz's dictatorship in what was called The Mexican Revolution. This dictatorship had lasted for over 30 years and was charactrized by elitist and oligarchical policies that benefited only wealthy landowners and industrialists. It all began when  Diaz said that Mexico was ready for democracy in 1908, elections were prepared for 1910 and candidates appeared, Francisco I. Madero was the most popular of them with the Antireeleccionistas (that are against reelection). When the time arrived Porfirio Diaz arrested Madero and declared himselg winner. Madero escaped from prison and wrote El Plan de San Luis in San Antonio, Texas; there he called for a revolt on November 20th. Although the initial revolt failed, slowly some people began rebeling, forming a great movement that put Francisco I. Madero in the presidency in 1911 making Diaz quit.
