If Melissa wants to earn a high salary from her new job, it is more practical to become a financial analyst at a large corporation than become a grant writer for a non-profit organization.
A large corporation is driven to generate income and increase it through the years. Which, in turn will assure its employees that their salaries will be paid and based on their performance will increase as they get promoted.
Being a grant writer in a nonprofit organization will not assure Melissa of having a high pay because said organization is wholly dependent on the grant. Regardless if Melissa work very hard and perform to the best of her ability, she will only be paid a portion of the grant. Her pay in a nonprofit organization will not be based on her performance but on the availability of cash granted to the organization.
